Michelle oversees the curriculum for all classes at Dance Carousel and is the principal instructor for the preschool program -- where our littlest dancers begin their journey of fun and wonder in the arts! Prior to opening Dance Carousel in 1992, she trained at the Philadelphia College of Performing Arts (now "University of the Arts"). She is a member of Dance Masters of America; Past President, Past Vice-President and Past Secretary of the Greater Brockton Dance Teachers' Association; and served on the Board of Directors of the Dance Teachers' Club of Boston -- where, for twelve years, as co-Chairwoman of the Dance Education Training Course, she played a pivotal role in training hundreds of future dance educators throughout New England. Michelle has earned innumerable awards and accolades regionally and nationally for her highly imaginative and supremely entertaining choreography -- including seven Outstanding Choreography citations at the 2008 StarQuest World Finals in Long Beach, California, and several American Dance Awards' "Diamond Choreography" Awards. She also does or has done choreography for a variety of local theatrical and gymnastics organizations, including South Shore Stageworks, Scituate High School Drama, Gates Intermediate School Drama and Notre Dame Academy; she had been coach of both Notre Dame Academy's fall and winter Dance team and Scituate High School's varsity cheerleading coach for football and basketball from 2010-2016. She has served on the faculty for Boston Arts Academy and The Gold School and on the judges panel for several Pageants and Dance competitions. Michelle received the Carol Miller Award for upholding the highest standards of Choreography and Teaching, and the Destination Broadway Award, presented by acclaimed Broadway musical director Michael Rafter, for outstanding efforts to develop young talent. She is eager to share her experience and enthusiasm with our next generations of dancers.
